Brother, Is the Church a Building, a System, or Something More?
—Ralph M.
It’s Not a System, Ceremony, or Ritual #
The Church is not a religious system. It’s not a building, a denomination, or a ritual calendar. It’s not weekly routines, pews, pulpits, programmes, or power structures. That’s all leaves without fruit—outward form with no inward life.
“Having a form of outward godliness [religion], although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith].”
— 2 Timothy 3:5 AMP
Jesus cursed the fig tree because it had leaves but no fruit (Mark 11:13-14). Likewise, a Church full of activity but empty of Christ is not the Church at all.
It Is Where Christ Lives—In You #
The Church is a people filled with the Holy Spirit. Christ lives in His people, not in stained glass or stained fingers.
“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”
— 1 Corinthians 3:16 AMP
“Christ [is] in you, the hope and guarantee of [realising the] glory.”
— Colossians 1:27 AMP
God no longer dwells in tents or temples—He lives in born-again people.
It’s God’s Household, Built in the Spirit #
We are living stones, not cold bricks. We are a spiritual house, not an institutional empire.
“You also, as living stones, are being built up into a spiritual house for a holy and dedicated priesthood…”
— 1 Peter 2:5 AMP
Joined Together in Christ, Not Divided by Doctrines #
The Church is united by the Spirit, not divided by traditions. Unity is not uniformity—it’s Christ expressing Himself uniquely through many.
“For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptised into one body—spiritually transformed—whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free…”
— 1 Corinthians 12:13 AMP
It’s a Corporate Expression of Christ #
The true Church reveals His nature—love, power, holiness, compassion, truth. It bears fruit because it abides in the Vine.
“I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit…”
— John 15:5 AMP
Any “church” that doesn’t reveal Christ isn’t the Church.
Christ Loves the Church Because He Lives in Her #
He’s not in love with buildings or titles. He’s in love with His Bride, made up of people transformed by His Spirit.
“Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.”
— Ephesians 5:25 AMP
I hope this helps.
