Christ is our Foundation #
Uncertainty exposes our vulnerability. It strips away illusions of control. Yet in that very stripping, Christ is revealed as the sure foundation.
In Hebrew, the word “emunah” (אֱמוּנָה) means “faithfulness, firmness, stability.” It is not our faith in God, but God’s faithfulness that holds us. We do not anchor ourselves—He anchors us.
“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; Yes, I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].”
— Isaiah 41:10 AMP
When the ground beneath you shifts, you are held by an unshakable hand. The “right hand” in Hebrew thought is the hand of covenant blessing and power. Christ is that hand stretched toward you.
In Greek, the word “paristēmi” (παρίστημι) means to stand beside, to be present. Christ does not merely help from afar—He stands with us.
“God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable], A very present and well-proved help in trouble.”
— Psalm 46:1 AMP
The word “refuge” in Hebrew is “machseh” (מַחְסֶה)—a hiding place, a shelter. Christ is our hiding place in the storm—not from trouble, but in the midst of it. He is the ark in the flood, the cloud by day, and the fire by night.
This is not poetic comfort. It is a covenantal reality. The throne of God is not built on emotion, but on unshakeable truth.
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You.”
— Psalm 89:14 AMP
The word “chesed” (חֶסֶד) for lovingkindness speaks of God’s unrelenting, covenantal mercy—what the New Testament calls grace. And that grace is now embodied in Christ.
Even when the future is unclear, Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change—so we are not consumed (Malachi 3:6).
So draw near. In Greek, the word “eggizō” (ἐγγίζω) means to come close, to approach with intent. This is not passive waiting. It is bold nearness. Prayer is not begging for direction—it is aligning with the One who is the Way.
A Prayer in the Storm #
Lord Jesus, my refuge and strength—
When I cannot see the path, let me see You.
When my heart feels faint, anchor me in Your unchanging love.
You are not just the God of certainty—you are present even in the chaos.
Lead me, not merely out of the unknown, but through it,
That I may know You more deeply.
Amen.
In Christ,
Shaliach
