PRAYING IS THE BEST PRACTICE #

 COLOSSIANS 4:2-6

Colossians 4:2 — Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

As we are about to enter the new year 2023, the vast majority of us are aware of the significance of prayer, yet we often have difficulty making it a top priority in our lives. It may be challenging to carve out time in one’s daily calendar for prayer when one’s work or family schedule is hectic, when one’s technology-based activities are distracting, and when one’s daily responsibilities are demanding.

How can we improve the amount of time that we spend praying so that it is more fruitful?

Some individuals believe that it is beneficial to pray at certain periods throughout the day. I once heard of a person who wanted to make sure he never forgot to pray so he would set a timer on his watch multiple times a day. He was taken aback when he realised, after engaging in this activity for some time, that he no longer need the alarm to serve as a reminder. What started out as an organised system quickly evolved into a treasured pattern of behaviour.

READING PRAYERS #

Reading prayers that have been written by other people is something that a lot of people find to be useful. You probably were not aware of this, but the book of Psalms is also referred to as “the prayer book of God’s people.” Reading prayers that were recorded in the Bible, such as the Psalms or other prayers, has revitalised the spiritual lives of many of us.

CORPORATE PRAYER #

Then there is the benefit of praying in the company of other people. A wonderful approach to strengthening one another and developing closer in the Lord is to meet with other Christians to pray and have fellowship.

Every time we make an effort to pray and give ourselves up to the practice, our Father God is delighted and pleased. The One who created the cosmos not only enjoys our company but also looks forward to our heart-to-heart correspondence with Him. Simply thinking about it might be enough to motivate us to make praying a higher priority.

PRAYER #

Please, Lord Jesus, make me someone who is committed to praying to start today and continue in the New Year 2023 and beyond. Please help me in establishing a relationship with You in whichever manner possible. Make use of me so that I might help others in developing their prayer life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
