Scripture Reading — 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 #
2 Corinthians 5:1 — For we know that if our earthly house, the tent we live in, is dismantled, we have a building from God, a house not built by human hands, that is eternal in the heavens.
I was reading about how, over the years, a family had gone on several tent camping trips, which they found to be a lot of fun. They also shared stories about how staying in a tent differed from staying at home. After experiencing heavy rain and strong winds while camping, they always felt grateful to return to the security of their strong, well-built house at the end of each trip.
A Heavenly Home Is Ready For Us #
God has a place for us in Christ – a building made by God. This is what we read about in the Bible today. On this mortal pilgrimage, we can have a lot of fun, but we also have to deal with the truths of sin and weakness. Sadness may fill our lives. We give in to our urges and the flesh, which hurts the people we care about. As we age, our bodies and skills get worse. This is the temporary tent we are living in.
God’s Spirit Sustains Us In Difficult Times #
God’s Spirit helps us remember that we were made for more when we are going through hard times. We live our lives in front of God because we believe that through Christ, our lives will be made new. We can live with faith even when we’re feeling weak because we know that God will give us a stable home.
Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you see the place that God has promised you through Christ.
Prayer #
Father, you made us to be your children in Christ, and we can’t rest until we rest in you. When we are weak and groan, give us hope in the place you have promised us through Christ. Amen.
Blessings,
Shaliach.
