Hello Pastor, I’ve heard that to walk in inheritance or purpose, I must align with a spiritual father’s DNA. They call it spiritual genetics. Is this in Scripture?

Dear Temba,
No New Testament doctrine says you receive a spiritual inheritance through a father’s “DNA.” That language sounds spiritual but has no basis in the teachings of Christ or the apostles.
Our inheritance is not transferred by alignment with a man — it is received through Christ.
Ephesians 1:11 — “In Him also we have received an inheritance — a destiny — being predestined according to His purpose, who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will.”
The word “inheritance” in Greek is klēronomia (κληρονομία) — it means possession by legal right. And our right comes from sonship in Christ, not submission to a man.
Some use Elisha and Elijah to teach transference, but Elisha follows Elijah because of God’s call, not spiritual genetics. Even then, the mantle did not pass by DNA — it came by faith and calling.
Romans 8:17 — “And if we are [His] children, then we are also [His] heirs: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance].”
No apostle ever taught that you need a human spiritual father’s mantle, DNA, or alignment to walk in your purpose. That idea is more mystical than biblical.
You already have access to your inheritance — in Christ.
Hope this clears things up.
In Christ,
Shaliach
