Bible Reading: Scripture Reading — Acts 27:39-28:2 #
Key Verse:
Acts 28:2 — The local inhabitants showed us extraordinary kindness, for they built a fire and welcomed us all because it had started to rain and was cold.
I recently trained the student choir at a school in Vasai for their annual concert, which turned out to be an excellent event. Interestingly, my name was recommended by a believer brother with whom I had met only once and for just a few minutes. Yet, he showed extraordinary kindness by suggesting my name. God truly works through people in unexpected ways.
Have you ever been the target of unexpected generosity?
Surviving the Storm: Paul’s Journey to Malta #
After surviving a horrible storm and shipwreck, the apostle Paul and others rested on Malta’s coast (Acts 27). As the islanders approached Paul, they saw them lying on the ground.
Both sides felt threatened by the other’s presence. Still, the Holy Spirit was already at work bringing the tourists and the Maltese people together. The islanders built a fire to give warmth, displaying Paul and the other’s “extraordinary kindness.”
Later on, they would provide the troops and captives as well as the shipwrecked crew with everything they needed to keep on their path.
The Spirit at Work: Extraordinary Generosity Displayed #
Consider someone who extended remarkable generosity to you.
I am not referring to someone whose ideas coincide with yours or whose philosophy is right. I want you to consider occasions when you were the beneficiary of an unexpected kindness. Could there have been circumstances when God’s Spirit was at work bringing together individuals in a manner only he could?
This is something more to give thought to. When you were an outsider or stranger, who showed you special grace?
Blessings,
Shaliach.
