Bible Reading — Ruth 2:1-13 #

Ruth 2:12 — “May the Lord reward your efforts! May your acts of kindness be repaid fully by the Lord God of Israel, from whom you have sought protection!”

The Courage to Ask for Help #

It is not unusual for God to go out of his way to care for us, but sometimes, we have to do the same to ensure the same thing happens. It is not always easy to ask for what we need, especially when other people may have good reasons not to help us.

Boaz’s Compassion and Respect #

Ruth, on the other hand, is brave. She knows exactly what she and her mother-in-law need, so she asks Boaz, a Bethlehem landowner if she can gather wheat from one of his fields.

Now, Boaz knows Ruth because Naomi is his cousin and Ruth’s mother-in-law, but he has never had the chance to talk to her directly. Boaz also does not look down on Ruth or act like he does not care about her; instead, he greets her warmly and tells her to keep following the harvesters.

God’s Reward and Refuge #

Regarding something else of interest, God gives her the gift of helping her mother-in-law and shows that Ruth is a good woman. He adds, “May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

This is about the name of the Lord. Because of this word, we have a better idea of how much God loves us and how caring and helpful God is.

You can trust that God will take care of us and provide for us because He is our Father. He often does this through the kindness and giving of other people. We can be sure that God helps and respects both the person who asks for help and the person who gives it, whether we need help or can help someone else.

Today, being Sunday, let this word remind you throughout the week that God truly cares for you. As you face each day, trust that His provision and kindness are ever-present, guiding and supporting you through every challenge.

Blessings,

Shaliach.
