Building Your Spiritual Foundation: 11 Faith Confessions to Declare Daily

26 min read

As Christians, our faith is based on our belief in God and His promises. We know that God is faithful, and His Word never fails. One way to strengthen our faith is to declare the promises of God through faith confessions.

In this post, we will explore some faith confessions from the Bible that can encourage and inspire us.

Confession #1: I am a child of God #

As Christians, we have been adopted into the family of God. We are no longer slaves to sin, but we are children of God. This confession is a reminder of our identity in Christ and the privileges we have as His children. We have the privilege of approaching God with boldness and confidence because we have been accepted by Him. We have access to His love, His wisdom, His power, and His grace. We can have the assurance that we are loved unconditionally, and nothing can separate us from His love.

Being a child of God also means that we have a responsibility to represent our Father well. We are called to love others as He has loved us, to serve others as He has served us, and to be a light in this dark world. We are called to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others so that they too can become children of God.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”Being a child of God also means that we have a responsibility to represent our Father well.”][/blockquote]

Furthermore, as children of God, we have an eternal home in Christ. This world is not our final destination, but we have hope that transcends this life. We have the promise of eternal life with God in Christ, where we will be in His presence forever.

Confessing that we are children of God is a powerful declaration of our identity, our privileges, our responsibilities, and our hope. It reminds us of the love and acceptance we have in Christ, the purpose we have in serving others, and the eternity that awaits us. Let us embrace our identity as children of God and live our lives in a way that honours Him.

Romans 8:15-17 says,

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.”

When we confess that we are children of God, we are acknowledging that we have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We have been adopted into God’s family, and we have an inheritance that is incorruptible and undefiled. We are no longer slaves to fear or sin, but we are free to live as children of God.

Confession #2: I am loved by God #

God’s love for us is unfailing.

1 John 4:9-10 says,

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

When we confess that we are loved by God, we are acknowledging that we are valuable and precious in God’s sight. We are loved with an everlasting love that cannot be diminished or taken away. We can rest in the assurance that God loves us, and nothing can separate us from His love. (Romans 8:38-39).

God’s love for us is not based on our performance or merit. We don’t have to earn His love or work for it. His love is a gift that we receive by faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says,

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

God’s love for us is also demonstrated through His actions. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins so that we could be reconciled to Him.

John 3:16 says,

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” This is the ultimate expression of God’s love for us.

Confessing that we are loved by God is a powerful declaration that can transform our lives. It can remove the fear, shame, and insecurity that we may feel, and replace them with love, joy, and peace. It can give us the courage and confidence to face any challenge or adversity that comes our way, knowing that we are loved and accepted by God.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”Confessing that we are loved by God is a powerful truth that can transform our lives and our relationships.”][/blockquote]

Moreover, confessing that we are loved by God can also motivate us to love others. As we experience the love of God in our lives, we can share that love with others and be a source of encouragement, comfort, and hope. We can love others as Christ has loved us, and show them the same grace and forgiveness that we have received from God.

Confessing that we are loved by God is a powerful truth that can transform our lives and our relationships. It reminds us of our value and worth in God’s sight, the unconditional nature of His love, and the ultimate sacrifice that He made for us. Let us embrace this truth and live our lives in a way that reflects God’s love for others.

Confession #3: I am forgiven #

As Christians, we have been forgiven of our sins through faith in Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:13-14 says,

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Forgiveness is an essential aspect of our relationship with God. Sin separates us from God, and forgiveness restores our relationship with Him.

1 John 1:9 says,

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When we confess our sins to God and ask for His forgiveness, He is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Moreover, God’s forgiveness is not based on our performance or merit. We don’t have to earn His forgiveness or work for it. His forgiveness is a gift that we receive by faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:7 says,

“In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.”

The price for our sins has been paid in full by the blood of Jesus on the cross.

Confessing that we are forgiven can have a profound impact on our lives. It can remove the guilt and shame that we may feel and replace them with joy and peace. It can free us from the bondage of sin and enable us to live a life that honours God. It can also motivate us to extend forgiveness to others, just as we have been forgiven by God.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”We can walk in the freedom that comes from knowing that we have been forgiven and set free by the blood of Jesus.”][/blockquote]

It’s important to note that forgiveness doesn’t mean that we ignore the consequences of our actions. It means that we acknowledge our wrongs, take responsibility for them, and seek to make things right. Forgiveness also doesn’t mean that we excuse or condone the actions of others. It means that we choose to release the offender from our anger and resentment and entrust them to God’s justice and mercy.

When we confess that we are forgiven, we are acknowledging that we have been set free from the penalty and power of sin. We are no longer slaves to sin, but we have been made alive in Christ. We can walk in the freedom that comes from knowing that we have been forgiven and set free by the blood of Jesus.

In conclusion, confessing that we are forgiven is a powerful truth that can transform our lives. It reminds us of the unconditional nature of God’s forgiveness, the freedom that comes from being set free from the penalty and power of sin, and the responsibility to extend forgiveness to others. Let us embrace this truth and live our lives in a way that reflects God’s forgiveness to others.

Confession #4: I am more than a conqueror #

Romans 8:37 says,

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

As believers, we face many challenges in life. We may face difficulties in our relationships, careers, health, finances, or any other aspect of our lives. These challenges can be overwhelming, and we may feel like we are on the losing side. However, when we confess that we are more than conquerors, we are making a powerful statement of faith.

To be more than a conqueror means that we have not only won the battle but have also gained something valuable in the process. Through faith in Christ, we have the power to overcome any obstacle that stands in our way. We can face our challenges with confidence, knowing that God is on our side and that He has already won the victory for us.

One example of someone who lived out this confession is the Apostle Paul. He faced numerous challenges and trials in his life, but he remained steadfast in his faith.

In Philippians 4:13, he declared,

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

This confession was not just a positive attitude, but it was rooted in the reality that Paul had the power of Christ within him to overcome any obstacle.

When we confess that we are more than conquerors, we are affirming our identity in Christ. We are acknowledging that we have been given the authority and power to overcome any challenge that comes our way. This confession is not just about positive thinking or self-help, but it is rooted in the truth of God’s Word.

In addition to Romans 8:37, there are other verses in the Bible that reinforce this confession.

For example, 1 John 5:4 says,

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

Similarly, in Revelation 12:11, we read that

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

We have victory through Christ, and when we confess that we are more than conquerors, we are declaring our faith in this truth. We are not just hoping for victory, but we are claiming it as a reality. We can walk in confidence, knowing that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to overcome any obstacle or challenge that comes our way.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”We can face our challenges with confidence, knowing that God is on our side and that He has already won the victory for us.”][/blockquote]

Confessing that we are more than conquerors is a powerful declaration of faith. It reminds us of our identity in Christ and our authority as believers. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we have the power to overcome any challenge and to walk in victory. Let us confess this truth and live it out in our daily lives.

When we confess that we are more than conquerors, we are acknowledging that we have victory through Christ. We can overcome any obstacle or challenge that comes our way because we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Confession #5: I am healed #

Isaiah 53:5 says,

“But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes, we are healed.”

Confessing that we are healed is a powerful declaration of faith that affirms the truth of God’s Word over our lives. As Christians, we have been given the promise of healing through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. The Bible tells us that by His stripes, we are healed. This means that Jesus bore our sicknesses and diseases on the cross, and we can receive healing through faith in Him.

When we confess that we are healed, we are not denying the reality of our physical symptoms or medical diagnosis. Rather, we are choosing to believe that God’s Word is true and that His promises are for us today. We are declaring that the healing power of Jesus is at work in our bodies, and we are aligning our thoughts and words with His truth.

It’s important to note that healing can come in many different forms. Sometimes it may be an instant miraculous healing, while other times it may be a gradual process. It’s also important to seek medical advice and treatment when necessary, and not to rely solely on our faith for physical healing.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”Confessing that we are healed is a powerful declaration of faith that affirms the truth of God’s Word over our lives.”][/blockquote]

Confessing that we are healed is a powerful way to activate our faith and invite the healing power of Jesus into our lives. It’s a reminder that we serve a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), and who is always working for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

As we confess that we are healed, we can also pray for others who are in need of healing. We can declare healing over our loved ones, friends, and even strangers, knowing that God’s healing power is not limited by time, distance, or circumstance.

Confessing that we are healed is a powerful declaration of faith that affirms the truth of God’s Word over our lives. It’s a reminder that we serve a God who is able to do the impossible and who desires to bring healing and wholeness to our lives. So let us continue to confess our healing, and to trust in the goodness and faithfulness of our loving God.

Confession #6: I have a purpose #

As Christians, our ultimate purpose is to be in Christ. Being in Christ means that we have a personal relationship with Him, and our lives are centred on Him. In Christ, we find our identity, our purpose, and our hope.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says,

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

When we are in Christ, we are made new. Our old self has died, and we have been resurrected into a new life in Him. Our purpose is no longer to live for ourselves, but to live for Christ and to bring glory to God.

Ephesians 2:10 says,

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

We were created in Christ Jesus for good works that God has prepared for us. When we are in Christ, we can walk in the good works that God has called us to do, fulfilling our purpose in Him.

Furthermore, being in Christ means that we are part of the body of Christ, which is the Church.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 says,

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many.”

As members of the body of Christ, we each have a unique purpose and role to play in building up the Church and advancing God’s kingdom.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”Our ultimate purpose as Christians is to be in Christ and to live for Him.”][/blockquote]

Our ultimate purpose as Christians is to be in Christ and to live for Him. We were created in Christ Jesus for good works that God has prepared for us, and as members of the body of Christ, we each have a unique purpose to fulfil. When we are in Christ, we find our identity, our purpose, and our hope, and we can live a life that brings glory to God.

Confession #7: I am blessed #

Ephesians 1:3 says,

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”

When we confess that we are blessed, we are acknowledging that God has poured out His blessings upon us. We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ, and we can live in the abundance of God’s blessings. As believers, we are blessed not only in the spiritual realm but also in every area of our lives.

Psalm 1:1-3 says,

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

When we delight in God’s Word and meditate on it, we become like a tree planted by streams of water. We thrive and bear fruit in every season of life.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”God’s blessings are not limited to material possessions, but they encompass every area of our lives.”][/blockquote]

God’s blessings are not limited to material possessions, but they encompass every area of our lives. We are blessed with peace, joy, love, and the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). We can walk in the confidence of knowing that we are blessed and highly favoured by God. Our circumstances may not always reflect our blessings, but we can trust that God is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

Furthermore, as children of God, we have been given the authority to bless others.

Proverbs 11:25 says,

“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”

When we bless others, we open the door for God’s blessings to flow into our lives. We can be a source of blessing to those around us by speaking words of encouragement, showing acts of kindness, and sharing the love of God.

It is important to remember that our blessings are not earned but are given to us freely by God’s grace. We cannot earn God’s blessings through our own efforts, but we can receive them through faith in Jesus Christ. As we walk in obedience to God’s Word, we position ourselves to receive His blessings.

When we confess that we are blessed, we are acknowledging that God has poured out His blessings upon us. We can walk in the abundance of His blessings, knowing that we are highly favoured and deeply loved by God. We can be a source of blessing to those around us and trust that God is working all things together for our good. May we continue to confess and believe that we are blessed in every area of our lives.

Confession #8: I am an overcomer #

1 John 5:4 says,

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

When we confess that we are overcomers, we are acknowledging that we have the power to overcome the world through our faith in Jesus Christ. We can overcome any challenge or difficulty that comes our way because we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

In Christ, we have been given everything we need to be an overcomer. We have the power of the Holy Spirit within us, and we have the promises of God to guide and strengthen us. This means that we can overcome anything that comes our way, whether it be a difficult circumstance, a temptation, or a trial.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”As we live in light of our identity in Christ, we are able to overcome the world and live victoriously in Him.”][/blockquote]

One of the key ways that we overcome in Christ is through our faith. As we trust in Jesus and rely on His strength and guidance, we are able to overcome any obstacle or challenge. Our faith is not in our own abilities or strength but in the power of God working through us. As we focus on Jesus and His promises, we are able to overcome fear, doubt, and discouragement.

Another way that we overcome in Christ is through the power of prayer. When we pray, we are tapping into the power of God and inviting Him to work in our lives. We can pray for strength, wisdom, guidance, and protection, knowing that God hears our prayers and will answer them according to His will. As we pray, we are able to overcome the enemy and the schemes of the devil.

In addition to faith and prayer, we overcome in Christ through our obedience to His Word.

Jesus said in John 14:15,

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

As we obey God’s Word and live according to His will, we are able to overcome the flesh and the temptations of the world. We can trust that God’s Word is true and that His promises will come to pass, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

Ultimately, our ability to overcome in Christ is rooted in our identity as children of God. Because we have been adopted into God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ, we have the assurance of eternal life and the promise of God’s love and care. We can trust that God is with us, even in the midst of trials and difficulties, and that He will work all things together for our good. As we live in light of our identity in Christ, we are able to overcome the world and live victoriously in Him.

Confession #9: I have peace #

John 14:27 says,

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

When we confess that we have peace, we are acknowledging that Jesus has given us His peace. We can have peace in the midst of any storm or trial because we know that Jesus is with us and will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

The peace that Jesus gives is not like the peace that the world offers. The world’s peace is temporary and can be easily disrupted by circumstances. The peace that Jesus gives is an inner peace that transcends any external situation. It is a deep-seated assurance that everything will be alright because we have a relationship with God and trust in His promises.

This peace is not something that we can manufacture or conjure up ourselves. It is a gift from God that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ. When we believe in Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we are reconciled to God and receive the peace that only He can give.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”We can have inner peace that transcends any external situation and trust in God’s promises and faithfulness to maintain it.”][/blockquote]

Furthermore, this peace is not dependent on our own efforts or performance. It is a peace that comes from knowing that we are loved and accepted by God despite our weaknesses and shortcomings. We do not have to strive to earn God’s favour or worry about His disapproval. We can rest in the peace that comes from knowing that we are forgiven, loved, and accepted by Him.

As we walk in faith and obedience to God, we can maintain this peace. We can trust in His sovereignty and His faithfulness to keep His promises. When we face challenges or difficulties, we can bring them to God in prayer and trust Him to provide for us and guide us through them.

When we confess that we have peace, we are acknowledging that we have received a gift from God through faith in Jesus Christ. We can have inner peace that transcends any external situation and trust in God’s promises and faithfulness to maintain it.

Confession #10: I am grateful to the Lord #

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says,

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

When we confess that we are grateful, we are choosing to focus on the blessings in our lives instead of dwelling on the negative. Gratitude is a powerful attitude that can transform our perspective and bring joy and contentment to our hearts.

Gratitude is more than just saying “thank you” for what we have. It is an attitude of the heart that recognizes and appreciates the goodness of God in our lives. It is a choice to focus on the positive aspects of our lives and to be thankful for them. When we cultivate an attitude of gratitude, we are able to see the blessings that God has given us, even in difficult circumstances.

Expressing gratitude to the Lord is an act of worship and obedience. It acknowledges that all good things come from Him and that He is the source of our blessings. It also demonstrates our trust in God’s provision and care for us, even in times of uncertainty and difficulty.

Gratitude is also important for our mental and emotional well-being. Studies have shown that practising gratitude can lead to increased happiness, improved relationships, and better overall health. It helps us to focus on the present moment and appreciate what we have, rather than worrying about what we lack.

[blockquote align=”right” author=”Gratitude is a choice that we make each day.”][/blockquote]

When we are grateful, we are also more likely to be generous towards others. We recognize that everything we have is a gift from God, and we are motivated to share our blessings with others. This is one of the ways that gratitude can lead to a life of purpose and meaning.

Gratitude is a choice that we make each day. It is not dependent on our circumstances but on our perspective. When we choose to focus on the goodness of God and the blessings in our lives, we can experience a sense of peace and contentment that goes beyond our circumstances.

When we say we are grateful, it doesn’t mean that we are only thankful for the good things in our lives. Rather, we are called to give thanks in all circumstances, whether good or bad, because we trust that God is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

When we give thanks in all situations, we are acknowledging God’s sovereignty and His loving care for us. We are choosing to focus on His goodness and faithfulness, even when things may not be going according to our plans. This kind of gratitude can be a powerful act of worship, as we offer our hearts and our circumstances to God in trust and thanksgiving.

Gratitude can also have a transformative effect on our own hearts and minds. It can help us to cultivate a spirit of contentment and joy, even in difficult circumstances. When we give thanks, we are choosing to see the good in our lives and in the world around us. This can help us to avoid falling into negative thought patterns and to develop a more positive outlook on life.

Overall, when we confess that we are grateful, we are acknowledging the goodness and faithfulness of God, and choosing to focus on the blessings in our lives, no matter what situation we may find ourselves in.

Confession #11: I am a new creation #

2 Corinthians 5:17 says,

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

When we confess that we are a new creation, we are acknowledging the transformative power of Christ in our lives. We have been made new in Him, and we can live in the freedom and power that comes from being a new creation.

The phrase “new creation” refers to the profound transformation that occurs in a person’s life when they become one with Christ. When someone accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they are no longer the same person they were before. They are a “new creation” in Christ, and everything about them changes.

The old self, which is characterized by sinful behaviour and sinful nature, is put to death, and a new self, which is characterized by righteousness and holiness, is raised up in its place. This transformation is not merely external or behavioural but is an inward change that happens at the very core of a person’s being. As a result, their thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours are transformed, and they begin to reflect the character of Christ.

This transformation is made possible through the power of the Holy Spirit, who indwells the believer and empowers them to live a life that is pleasing to God. The Holy Spirit guides and directs the believer, convicting them of sin, empowering them to resist temptation, and helping them to live a life that is pleasing to God.

As a new creation in Christ, believers are set free from the bondage of sin and are given a new identity in Him. They are no longer defined by their past mistakes or failures but are defined by their relationship with Jesus. They are now children of God, co-heirs with Christ, and have been given the gift of eternal life.

Living as a new creation in Christ is not always easy, and there may be times when believers struggle with old patterns of behaviour or face challenges that test their faith.

However, the promise of 2 Corinthians 5:17 remains true:

“The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

As new creations in Christ, believers can trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to continue to transform them into the image of Christ and to empower them to live a life that brings honour and glory to God.

In conclusion, faith confessions from the Bible are a powerful way to strengthen our faith and build our confidence in God’s promises. By declaring these confessions regularly, we can renew our minds with the truth of God’s Word and live in the victory that comes from faith in Jesus Christ. As we continue to grow in our faith and trust in God, may these confessions be a source of encouragement and inspiration for us all.

Let Us Pray #

Gracious Father, we come before you today with grateful hearts, thanking you for your goodness and mercy towards us. We thank You for the gift of life and the many blessings You have bestowed upon us. We acknowledge that we are nothing without you, and we surrender ourselves to your will.

Lord, we ask for your guidance and wisdom as we navigate through the challenges of this life. Help us to walk in faith and to trust in your goodness and faithfulness. Strengthen us in our times of weakness and comfort us in our times of sorrow.

We pray for your blessings upon our families, friends, and loved ones. We ask that You provide for their needs, protect them from harm, and bless them with Your love and grace.

Lord, we also lift up our leaders and those in authority over us. We pray that you would grant them wisdom, discernment, and understanding as they make decisions that affect our lives and our nation.

Lastly, we pray for your peace to fill our hearts and our world. We ask for an end to violence, hatred, and discord, and for the restoration of unity, compassion, and love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Blessings,

Shaliach.
